For my grandfather
We wandered in the woods
Through summer afternoons.
The light was like
A fairy smile
As fell down from the leaves.
She washed her face
In silver waves
Then danced around the trees.
We walked along,
Followed her song
Until she slipped away.
Crossing the stream
We left our dream,
And you told me a tale.
You always said that you would bring down
All stars from the sky for me.
I clung to your neck that I kept you back,
Just stay, just stay with me.
You always said that you never leave,
You will be there if I need.
But you passed away, and I just couldn’t say
How much you mean for me.
We waited for the light
Through endless winter nights.
And it shone bright,
An angel eyes
Watching behind the door.
She flew so long
To hear your song,
To stay until they call.
She raised me high,
Over the sky
Before she slipped away.
Then I fell down
Into your arm,
And you told me a tale.
You always said that you would bring down
All stars from the sky for me.
I clung to your neck that I kept you back,
Just stay, just stay with me.
You always said that you never leave,
You will be there if I need.
But you passed away, now I just want to say
So very beautiful, dear Edit! A wonderful tribute to your grandfather.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comments. It was very interesting what you wrote about your garden... and about the stars. I think in many cultures that constellation is seen as a wagon. Our name for it means a fishing net. :) Just think that I didn't know this before I studied the thing. It's such an old word that I believe few people know what it means.
Sending you big hugs and wishing you a happy week! <3
Thank you, Sara! ♥
